Blanche V. Simmons directed the Buccaneer Band of Fairhope, Alabama. The 107 member band  accumulated the impressive record of 16 superiors and 10 excellent ratings at the State Band Contest. They represented the state in 2 Senior Bowl Games, and the State of Alabama in Washington, D.C.’s Cherry Blossom Parade. The band, which has received invitations to Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Over Texas, and the Orange Bowl Parade, has been classified as one of the top bands in the state. The Fairhope Chamber of Commerce presented a Certificate of Merit for Outstanding and Meritorious Service to the Community in the field of leadership to Blanche for her reknown record with the Fairhope Buccaneer Band. Blanche was also presented with a Distinguished Service Award by the Kiwanis Club for outstanding service to youth.
