Women of the Podium - Mildred B. Blake

Mildred B. Blake taught public school for 37 years in the states of Indiana, Ohio and New York, the last twenty-five years at New Harmony High School where the bands and choruses consistently received first division ratings for 23 consecutive years. Mildred is a Pioneer Woman of the Podium. She began her teaching career in 1932.  She entered the field just a few years after the school band movement had been organized.  She was a member of the NEA, Indiana School Music Association and she also served 16 years on the staff of the Indiana University Music Clinic for high school musicians.
